Update from Element Leadership
Element Online

We are excited to announce that Element will continue to offer classes during the COVID-19 period with our newest studio outlet, Element Online! We will be holding online classes via video, and each of our teachers have been trained on the free and easy-to-use Zoom video-conferencing software to ensure our dancers continue to learn, grow, and have fun. Please see our studio statement below for tips and tricks on Zooming from Home. As unconventional as online class can be, our teachers are getting creative with the curriculum and tailoring the experience for every dancer, offering personalized feedback and a supportive community during a difficult time. Thank you for your support. Let's do this! We're all in this together!

We have an incredible supplemental program that we’re excited to offer ALL our company and pre-company dancers (at no extra cost to you)! We are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with CLI Studios, an online training platform that will give you unparalleled access to 150+ well known and extremely reputable choreographers from around the country. This platform offers access to live AND recorded classes for every level and genre. If you see a class that you missed or your schedule just doesn’t work with their live classes, don’t worry. All their classes are recorded and can be found on their website to be taken on your own time as well!

Dear Dance Families,

We wanted to provide an update on our response to the challenging situation our community and country faces.

We Are Here for You

To alleviate any confusion resulting from our government’s emergency orders, we want to use this website page to keep all parents and dancers informed of studio plans. We aim to be as transparent and flexible as we can during this difficult time, and we want to say thank you for your understanding and continued support. Our teachers and leadership team are putting in long hours as we seek to serve our dance community with exceptional classes and instruction.

To do our part to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, our current status is:

Our dance studios are currently closed to walk-in traffic (to protect employees, dancers, and parents based on the governments orders, as applicable).

We are still holding group classes and privates through Zoom, a free video conferencing software. If you are registered for a class, you will receive a link to join an online Zoom room via email. Element will be recording each class with recordings sent out weekly (if needed sooner, please reach out and we will accommodate). Our teachers have been trained on Zoom, and we appreciate your understanding as we solve any digital issues that arise during this time.

We Will Aim to Provide the Best Online Class Experience Possible

With our dancers taking a variety of class styles and sizes, each with their own unique challenges and needs, here are a few home video-calling tips to ensure classes run as smoothly as possible.

  1. Set up your camera and microphone. Test your laptop or device camera to make sure it’s working. Your entire body should be viewable within the view of the camera. *Note: Please test that your microphone works, but for a streamlined class, please keep your microphone muted whenever possible.

  2. Prepare your dancing space. Make sure your area is open, free from any clutter, and within full view of your camera. Your dancing space should have good lighting and, if possible, a closed door to free from any distractions (such as pesky siblings and furry friends!).

  3. Adhere to class dress code. You will be held to the same dress code standards as normal class. Please reach out to the team for any issues.

  4. Adhere to class etiquette. You will be expected to be present, receptive, and communicative in the same manner of class etiquette as in normal classes. You will continue to be given personalized feedback and corrections by instructors. Please continue your work as would in person.

  5. If enrolled in Tap class, prepare your surface. If possible, please try to prepare your tapping surface keeping sound audible to your teacher. Ideally, we recommend plywood with foam mats underneath, which can be bought at your local hardware store (thankfully still open!).

  6. Have fun! Even though we’re moving to online classes for the short-term, our dance teachers are excited to continue working with you. We’ll work through any issues, and we’ll come out of this period stronger than ever. We’re in this together!

Please Stay in Touch

Our team will be doing our best to communicate information as it changes and becomes available. This situation is evolving on a literal day-to-day basis, and we appreciate your patience as we work to consolidate everything you need to know. We also want to know how you're doing. As a dancer, as a parent, as a family—if there is anything we can be doing to support you, please let us know.

From all of us at Element Dance Studio, thank you.

We know that many of you are also running small businesses and are affected by these closures just as much as we are. We are hearing so many stories of how this is impacting the art community (and so many more!), so we thank you all for being patient with us while we all work through this.

If you feel comfortable doing so, we encourage you to schedule private lessons with our choreographers and teachers to keep your dancer training and show your support for this amazing industry during this time! We love our dance family and our dance community, and we are very aware we have one amazing family at Element that we can all lean on to get through this together.

We love you all and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your patience as we all work through this together!
